Concussion

INFORMATION PROVIDED FOR A       GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD

Cailet, 17

Alabama

Playing high school lacrosse I got a stick to the back of my neck and next thing I know I was laying on the ground with people crowded around me. I went to the hospital and they said I had a concussion. It was really hard to be in school for a while. I had headaches and nausea for almost 3 months

Playing for Black Dragons lacrosse a shot rebounded off of my helmet and I immediately didn't feel right. I didn't come right off of the field but when I did I was feeling very poorly. I went to the hospital and got diagnosed with a concussion. My symptoms lasted for only about two weeks but it took a month for me to be cleared again.

I figure skate and while practicing a new turn I lost my footing and my balance and my head hit the ice. I don't remember everything clearly but my coach got me off of the ice and I saw a doctor a couple of days later. I was out of school for a week but sleeping and lounging around really helped make it feel better.

While wrestling I got body slammed and my back hit the mat and my head flew backwards hitting my opponent. I wrestled out the rest of the match but during the rest of the meet my head was killing me. I went to the doctor a few days later and ended up being out of all physical activity for 3 months while I recovered.
